Thanks to the Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation, Computers for Kids was able to open the Lewiston area for computer distribution and recycling.  CFK distributed refurbished computers to schoolchildren in Lewiston and the surrounding areas including Idaho County, Clearwater County, Lewis County, Nez Perce County, and Latah County.  Applications opened on November 1, 2006 with a deadline of February 28, 2007.  Distribution took place in April.

By the time CFK staff arrived in Lewiston for the distribution, over 650 applications had been received from students, schools and other non-profit organizations.  Their expectations were exceeded.  Thanks to the Lewiston Idaho Army National Guard, who helped volunteer and donated the use of their Armory to CFK, and to the City of Lewiston, Solid Waste Division.  Lewiston was a great achievement!Computers for Kids brought back 22 tons of computers and monitors for refurbishing, keeping them out of the local landfill.

Our second year 450 computers were handed at out to students and non-profits. 24 tons were saved from the landfill.  Thanks to Idaho Army National Guard, City of Lewiston, Solid Waste / Street Maintenance Division and to the Lewiston steering committee.

Some of our steering committee has moved out of the Lewiston area.  CFK wishes them well on their new adventures will miss them.  We are looking for community involved individuals to help inform school, media, businesses and individuals about our program.  Please e-mail us at cfk@cfkidaho.com.

Our mission is to offer Idaho students K – 14th grade the opportunity to enhance their education through the use of technology at home.

CFK will be in Lewiston April 22-24th at the Lewiston Armory, 2707 16th Ave. The distribution will be Friday, April 23rd. Get your applications in now!
